Jodi Young is a biological oceanographer who studies the physiology and biochemistry of marine microalgae. Her research aims to identify the physiological and biochemical adaptations that enable phytoplankton and sea ice algae to thrive in extreme polar environments and influence rates of polar primary production, biogeochemical cycles and food web nutrition. She also aims to improve our understanding of the evolution and adaptation of phytoplankton photosynthesis, focusing on the interaction of enzyme kinetics and temperature.
